An AI chatbot suits a travel agency because travel enquiries are conversational and open-ended: dates, group, interests and budget change the whole answer. A good bot talks the visitor into a draft plan, captures their details, and gives your sales team a lead worth calling. It should not quote prices unless your system provides them.
Where a chatbot helps a travel business
- Out-of-hours enquiries. Travellers plan in the evening and at weekends.
- First-draft itineraries. The bot turns "7 days in Japan, we love food" into a route the traveller can react to.
- Qualifying leads. By the end of the chat you know destination, dates, group and style.
- Saving agent time on repeat questions about visas, seasons and basics.
Where it must be careful
- Prices. Costs depend on partners, dates and availability. In Moonlight we made the bot never quote prices, so pricing stays with people.
- Visas and rules. Give general guidance and point to official sources, since rules change.
- Availability. Do not promise what your system has not confirmed.
What we built
For Trripah we built Moonlight, which plans trips by chat and hands a ready lead to the team, and we connected it to a CRM that automates the quote steps that follow. In that CRM, one click sends branded quote-request emails to the right destination partners, replies are logged against the trip, and an AI parser turns supplier quotes in email, PDF or DOCX into a structured itinerary that can be shared with the client.

A practical starting plan
- Pick one destination type or product to start.
- Write the persona and rules, including what the bot must not say.
- Build the knowledge per destination, and load it only when needed.
- Connect the hand-off to your CRM or WhatsApp.
- Read the first 50 conversations and improve.
Our AI and intelligent automation service and CRM development service cover both halves.
