Lead qualification means deciding which leads deserve your best attention first. You can do it with three to five questions and a simple points score: fit (are they the right kind of customer), need (do they have a real problem), and timing (are they ready soon). No special software is required.

## The three things to judge

1. **Fit.** Industry, size, location or product match.
2. **Need.** Do they describe a real problem you solve?
3. **Timing.** When do they want to start?

Some teams add **authority** (can this person decide?) and **budget**, but these are harder to ask early without putting people off.

## Collect the signals

Get them from your form, chatbot or first call:

- What are you looking for? (choice list)
- What kind of business is it?
- When do you want to start?
- Rough budget range (optional)
- How did you hear about us?

## A simple scoring sheet

| Signal | Points |
|---|---|
| Matches your ideal industry or size | 2 |
| Described a specific problem | 2 |
| Wants to start within a month | 2 |
| Gave phone or WhatsApp | 1 |
| Budget in your range | 1 |
| Came from referral | 1 |

Add the points. Set rules, for example: 6 or more is called today, 3-5 is called this week, and below 3 gets an email.

## Keep it honest

- **Review the score monthly.** Which scores actually became customers?
- **Adjust the points** to match what you see.
- **Do not reject too early.** Low-score leads can still be good. Let them wait rather than disappear.

## Where it lives

A spreadsheet works to start. A CRM lets you automate scoring, assignment and reminders.
